Set befittingly in the luxurious New York landmark, The Plaza Hotel, Marchesa F/W 2012 show was a magnificent display of one baroque-style gown creation after the other. Inspired by Willaim-Adolph Bouguereau’s famous 1878 portrait, ” A Soul Brought to Heaven”, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig’s designs exhibited the same heavenly splendor exhibited in the celestial painting.
From the romantic silhouettes to their signature embroideries of feather and lace, Chapman and Craig churned out another bevy of red carpet ready designs for the actress with divine taste singed with sensuality.
While the show might have been reminiscent of an older time, the musical accompaniment curated by DJ Renee Goulet was very much of today’s tempo. Featuring a selection each from this season’s hottest soundtracks – Drive and Girl With the Dragon Tattoo – the sounds were beautifully obscure in relation to the ethereal gowns gliding down the runway. The show also opened and closed with the same electrifying song, Nosaj Thing’s “Lords”. Have a listen!
