RAGGED MAG LAUNCH Event with FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS
Ragged Mag Invitation

Last week I had the pleasure of not only attending, but co-hosting the Ragged Mag Holiday Issue Launch party at The Jane Hotel! Ragged Mag is a quarterly magazine published by by FILTER Magazine, and powered by American Rag for Macy’s, which concentrates on music and style. Each issue of Ragged Mag features full-length articles and photo spreads of today’s hottest artists and is distributed at music festivals and events across the country, including SXSW, Lollapalooza, and Voodoo Festival. Since their vision is very much in line with that of The Vogue Vibes, it seemed to be a match made in heaven. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, one of my favorite bands Fitz and the Tantrums would not only be hosting, but DJing the party as well! If you recall, I wrote about my extraordinary experience at their show back in June at Central Park’s Summer Stage. Call me crazy, but I can’t help but think this was not just a coincidence, but a beautiful stroke of fate.

My American Rag ensemble for the night was a one-shouldered, black and floral print chiffon jumpsuit which I knew would serve as the perfect party frock. As soon as I arrived for the event, I was in utter awe of The Jane Hotel’s ballroom which boasted an eclectic and stunning period décor complementary to the American Rag Holiday 2011 collection donned by models floating around the party. The vibrant crowd was an affable mix of the city’s fashion and music crowds and I was lucky enough to have many of my dear friends in attendance.  While enjoying cocktails, getting “inked” with airbrush tattoos, taking polaroid photographs, and socializing, attendees admired the winter-perfect collection.

The feel-good tunes, giving everyone a reason to dance, were provided by Fitz and the Tantrums lead singers, Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick and Noelle Scaggs, along with drummer John Wicks. Ditching traditional turntables for the night, the gang alternated amongst themselves on the digital one’s and two’s, using both an iPod and iPad. I had the pleasure of meeting them thanks to the great folks at Good Cop PR and I could not have been more pleased to find that their onstage charisma held true offstage. However, Fitz and the Tantrums have not seen the last of me as I will be going to their November 10th show at Terminal 5 to interview them and encourage you to go as well!

All in all, this was truly one of the most memorable happenings since The Vogue Vibes launched almost a year ago. My sincerest thanks goes out to Factory PR for making this fabulous event happen! Keep your eyes peeled for the American Rag Holiday 11′ collection to debut and be sure to check out the Ragged Mag Holiday Issue.
