Unleashing my inner deadhead, minus the psychedelics, I had the pleasure of jammin’ out to Furthur at Long Island’s beachside venue, Nikon Jones Beach Theatre. Having seen Phish at Jones Beach last summer, this wasn’t my first experience among the fun lovin’ crowd the Grateful Dead brings out. For those who don’t know, Furthur was founded by Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, along with John Kadlecik of the Dark Star Orchestra, Jeff Chimenti of RatDog, and Benevento/Russo Duo, and currently includes Sunshine Becker of SoVoSó and Jeff Pehrson of Box Set and The Fall Risk.
While Furthur can never replace the Grateful Dead (R.I.P Jerry!), it was incredible to see legends such as Lesh and Weir perform some of their classics. However, my favorite part of the show was when they covered “Good Lovin’” by The Young Rascals! Check out the setlist below!
