In my mind, the woman donning the Monique Lhuillier Fall 2011 is an elegant princess with a dark streak. Dark, Sultry, and Seductive serving as the main motifs of the collections, it was sheer fabrics, lace and black galore! It was breathtaking to watch as Lhuillier incorporated elegant details into elaborate black ensembles. However, I welcomed the pops of color and leopard print, which offset the dark hues nicely.
Of the collection Lhullier said “This woman knows how to get what she wants.Dark, lean and very structured silhouettes. Suits are cut with strong shoulders and frayed edge details in woods, tweeds, and techno jacquard fabrics. Lace is back! The illusion of skin through layers of lace and corsets in blouses and cocktail dresses. Feathers are incorporated to add a flirty edge. Evening is sultry and dramatic with flowing chiffons in dark ombres and deep scarlet. Gala gowns are dark, seductive, and epic in proportions. She is truly the knock out of the night!”a
I am eager to see which of Lhuillier’s pieces appear on the red-carpet. My personal favorite was the Noir tulle one shoulder gown with oxidized gold stardust embroidery.
